Social Media Surgery

We are so sorry to report the sudden death of Steph Clarke (Jennings) who helped so many customers through this monthly Social Media Surgery here at Light House with her husband James.
Steph was well known in the community. As an early adopter of social media, she believed powerfully in enabling others to make the most of free marketing and social tools, and was a true pioneer, devoting a lot of time to fundraising and helping charity and community groups to learn digital skills.
Steph also worked for Light House for around 5 years on Box Office and in Marketing, setting up our original social media platforms. She will be sadly missed and we’re sure many of you will join us in extending our sympathies to James, her son and family.

As we are not sure at present what the future will hold for our Social Media Surgery, please keep in touch for updates.

Information on the Social Media Surgery

Looking for ways to share your passion for your local community or your interests?  Wondering how a group or organisation that you belong to could get their message across to a wider audience? Have a web site for your organisation that is difficult or expensive to update?

Then come along to a social media surgery and find out how blogs, video clips, photo sharing sites, Facebook, Twitter and other free web tools could help you or your group.

The surgery is particularly aimed at those from community and voluntary groups wanting to learn how to use the social web. Free web tools can help you to organise activities, promote events, raise funds, collect feedback from your participants and keep a record of everything you do.

No boring speeches, no jargon and free!

All of our helpers are volunteers or staff from local organisations who know enough about using social media tools to help someone else. You don’t need any previous knowledge to take part, and there won’t be any lectures. We’ll talk to you one-to-one, listen to what you need and explain things clearly.
